Longevity
I've had this thing in my pool for a year. From 30 degree water to 95 degree water. It has worked amazing. If it were to break now that I am taking good about it then I would buy another one. The screen on the module went out but aside from that it's flawless. You can check the temp anywhere and anytime. You can also program it. You can set high and low thresholds and look at the temp history.

Amazing wireless pool temp reader
I was using the old reliable Walmart floating duck thermometer for a few years until I found this Govee device. All I can say is that it works very well and the setup was easy. I connected the gateway to my cellphone and added my wifi connection. Paired the gateway to the floating wireless thermometer and voila. I even added a widget to my iPhone and Apple Watch to always see what my water temp is at any time. The app also allows you to set notifications for min and max temps, and track/ extract historical information. I live about an hour north of Houston TX where summers can get quite hot. However my pool temps have never been above 86, whereas 80 is quite cold. My wife freezes in anything less than 80. So it’s nice to know the exact temp.I can only imagine what other uses this wireless thermometer has. It’s been about 4 weeks now and so far the triple A batteries in the floating device are holding strong. My only dislike is the lanyard it comes with for securing to the edge of your pool. I made a longer lanyard from some 550 paracord, knotted at both ends and secured to one of my skimmer lids.

Works well, extremely short battery life (updated - fixed)
Connection was easy, temp accurate. Problem I'm having is, the initial batteries lasted a month or so. Put in new batteries, they were dead in a week. Maybe bad a battery? Another set of a different brand, 5 days. Tried again, cleaning the battery contacts, just in case, and re-seating the connector. Nope, 7 days. And this with "Long Battery Life Mode" turned on. Seems like this short battery life is an issue with many, but not all of these sensors. So, I'm back to Ambient Weather, not quite as convenient or accurate, and can't check the temp with my phone, but the batteries last 6-9 months.5/16/24 update: Customer support contacted me, they figured out some water intrusion had caused an issue with the unit, which was causing the extreme battery drain. Attaching the picture I sent them, if your unit has this kind of corrosion, it may not work as it should. They're sending me a replacement, even though I've had the unit for over 6 months! Huge kudos for above and beyond customer service.I'm going to put some Teflon tape on the threads of the replacement, to assure it remains water-tight. I'm upping my review rating, since the units function is excellent, just have to make sure the unit remains watertight.

Easy to pair. Works as intended. Will update review after a few months of use.
Easy to setup. It’s much better if you make an account with Govee first when you download the app. Also, better if Bluetooth is on and have your WiFi login handy. Go to the app and add the wife gateway. The instruction manual is simple to understand. Setting up the WiFi gateway first is great. Great range. I plugged it inside the house. After gateway setup, then I setup the thermometer sensors. Best to set it up first close to the gateway. It’s tough to unscrew the sensor open as they should be, to help make it waterproof, as it’s suppose to float. Add the batteries by sliding the battery cover that’s inside the thermometer top. Follow the arrow direction on where to slide the battery cover. This might sound implied but sometimes common sense is not so common. In the app, it will show the sensors. Press the small button that’s inside the thermometer sensor next to the battery. You will see in the app which sensor you pressed as its name would blink. Pick that name/sensor in the app then it’s paired. I changed the name of my sensor by going to that thermometer’s specific setting, then tap the old name and delete and type in the new name. You can also change the reading of the temperature on the top part of the thermometer by pressing the button twice quickly (same button you pressed to pair the thermometer”. It was quick and direct to the point. I also paired it with my Alexa. In the Govee app, I went to my profile. Go to Voice assistant and pick either Alexa if you have prime. It will ask you to link it. It helps if your Govee WiFi gateway is connected to the same WiFi as your Alexa stuff. You can also do google assist if you have google stuff.
