The BEST CarPlay screen for cars with existing infotainment systems!

This is the absolute BEST way to add CarPlay to your car... period. I've tried other, less expensive systems -- the screens offered less contrast, a clunkier, challenging UI, and much poorer build quality. This one is sleek, feels extremely well built, and the screen is bright, crisp, and super responsive. Connecting it was simple, and the "screen only" mode is A GODSEND for people with cars with existing infotainment systems -- I have a 2016 Ford, and it has Sync 2 with MyFordTouch, so I have existing ability to play Bluetooth audio, and native support (and decent native support!) for a phone -- including 911 assist if I should be in an accident and the airbags deploy. I don't want to lose the functionality I already have in the car -- including my steering wheel controls, so this is the best possible option. I don't have to connect my phone to it, and then it to my car's bluetooth, and lose the decent phone functionality built into my car (including the pre-existing microphone). The screen works as an interface for CarPlay, it's front and center on my dash, and I can leave my phone charging and out of my hands while I drive. If I want to use Siri, I can -- it works just fine without routing the audio through the CarPodGo. If I want to use the (awful) voice commands of Sync 2, I can.I can't actually speak to how well it works when you route the audio from your phone through it -- if you have any type of existing Bluetooth support (and probably steering wheel controls to match), there's no point -- just bypass it and use the Dual-Bluetooth or Screen Only (it's called different things in different places in the UI) mode. The ONLY recommendation I can make is to get an add-a-fuse adaptor with a lighter socket, find the fuse that runs your car's radio (hopefully it's in the cabin and not under the hood), and literally add a circuit for this to run off that will switch off when your radio turns off -- on door open, or after five minutes, or however your car handles it. My Explorer retains power to the power ports throughout the car for 75 MINUTES after the car is turned off -- that's a long, long time for this thing to be drawing something like 30 watts at 12 volts. Sure, there's a power switch on the plug, and you can turn it off every time you get out of the car, but that's a pain the keister, and I don't want this thing to vampire my battery to death.Other than the issue with battery drain, which is entirely the fault of my car and has nothing to do with the product, this thing is 100% exactly what most folks need. It's a little more expensive that some of the other solutions, but I assure you, you get what you pay for, and this is a much, much better designed, engineered, and manufactured solution than most.

Pretty awesome

Looked long and hard for options to add Android Auto to my 2017 Ram, and the solutions ran from inexpensive replacement units that don't require wiring harness/dash kits to expensive name-brand units that require expensive wiring harnesses and dash kits. But ultimately with either option you had to make sacrifices. The inexpensive ones have glitches you have to deal with, like the steering wheel controls don't sync right (lose phone or voice control options, one i couldn't map the volume up function to the right button, or can't get them to work at all), the OEM rear camera is grainy or dim or doesn't have back up lines, etc., siriusXM doesn't work, may need an additional mic, time doesn't sync, etc. Additionally, because there's no real development, they just steal someone else's architecture, they have poor usability factors (button placement makes no sense, UI navigation is terrible, music stops while in reverse, etc). Often you have to resynch your phone to it upon start up, also. Overall, you get a lot for your money, but you have to be willing to make ssacrifices.Name brand units are expensive, and require additional hardware to sync to your vehicle correctly (control the hvac, use the steering wheel controls, etc), but for the most part retain factory capabilities. In my case even with the best options, the OEM mic is unusable, SiriusXM is lost (or requires additional hardware), and GPS is lost (or requires additional hardware). You regain some of that with Android Auto, but it's still really expensive and you don't gain much more than what you already had (essentially just Android Auto, the ability to add outboard amps, and maybe a larger screen).I'm not saying this unit is perfect, but as a sub- $200 way to add Android Auto to any stereo, I'm pretty happy. It's better for Carplay, as they still have some bugs to work out for AA (mic integration isn't very good, and slightly stretched image), but because it just acts as a way to control your phone, which is connected to you OEM radio via BlueTooth, you don't lose any OEM capabilities (steering wheel controls, reqrview cam, hvac controls, etc).Super happy with this as an option for vehicles that had pretty much everything but Android Auto/Carplay. If you're open to having an additional screen on your dash, this is a great option.I ran the power wire behind the dash to the cigarette lighter to make it look a little better.

Quality product.

The screen is excellent, and the boot time is no longer than what it takes for my phone to connect to the car. What decided me to purchase this particular unit was the fact that the connection to the screen is independent of the Bluetooth connection to the car. The video feed goes to the screen, and the audio directly to the car's Bluetooth. No delays, no worries about degraded sound quality. I get the added convenience of CarPlay without worrying about a degraded audio experience or problems with Siri. I have a rear backup camera in my car, so I haven't added the rear camera yet. I may, but I am too lazy to mess around with connecting the wire to my backup lights so far. In any case, highly recommended. Quality product.
