Perfect for 2 or holidays
Great little fryer. Perfect for making chips for 2 people. Made fish bites in simple batter, holiday chippy would have cost us £18, with this fryer I can do that twice and uts paid for itself. We use it for camping using lard so it's easy to transport. Literally takes 5 mins to heat up and away you go. It does run a little hot so perhaps lower your temp slightly and don't leave unattended. Value for money. Would deffo recommend, obvs its hot, small and light so care around children is required.

Great little electric chip fryer
I was a little apprehensive reading some of the reviews of this product, so I was definitely surprised and happy with it when it arrived and used a couple of times. My main reason for buying the item was I needed a smaller chip fryer as we are only 2, and something that can fit into my already full to the brim cupboards. This little chip fryer was perfect for that. I read comments that the fryer only cooks one portion but to me that’s an extra large portion of chips from the fish and chip shop that is something I usually share. So in effect in can easily cook 2 portions of restaurant sized portions not fish and chip shop large portions.Yes the window does steam up so you can’t really see the chips but no hardship opening and lifting the tray to view the chips. The lines inside the unit clearly mark the oil capacity. If you overfill the oil it will overspill. Otherwise no spillage. Found this out first use, no issues on second or third use. It’s so easy to clean to. After use I simple fill the unit with soapy water after I’ve removed the oil, and let it soak for a while, then pour out, and with the damp sponge wipe clean.I love the way the handle can easily detach and be placed inside the tray with the unit, and how the cable also fits into the handle area, so when putting away can easily store inside, very compact.Yes the basket can bend, but not sure why you’d deliberately try and push it? I literally just take it out, and soak in a bowl, job done.To remove the oil I simply pour the out into a funnel and back into my chip oil bottle. You can use the oil again a number of times depending on the oil you use. I just literally tilt the unit down into my funnel and pour from the corner down. Simple.Great little fryer. Definitely recommend for a couple or single person who just wants to fry chips.

A good little chip fryer but be careful of the sharp bits and build quality
When our daughter moved out, our Tefal Pro fryer, naturally went with her. As a lover of chips, it would have been unfair to deprive her of an essential food group. This left my wife and I in a quandary - Replace it like for like or buy something cheaper? As our daughter had prompted the purchase due to her youthful fried food obsession, we decided for the latter option. That is not to say that the Tefal was not an excellent fryer, it would be my first recommendation if asked, but being practical and thrifty, we decided to shop around as our household chip consumption was going to decrease considerably. The only major advantage I could find with the Swan was it had a temperature light and a power indicator, something the Tefal omitted. The Tefal indicator only illuminated while the element was heating, which I consider a poor design. If you are forgetful, it would be all too easy to leave the fryer on inadvertently, once it has come up to temperature. So a big plus point to Swan for this. The Swan also seemed to reach a slightly higher temperature than the Tefal, something important when double-frying chips. The Tefal though, came through on the build quality. There were no sharp edges on the casing and lid, and the design of the basket and handle was much more robust. The Swan, by comparison, felt a bit cheap and cheerful. At a considerably lower price point than the Tefal, that is to be expected. The Tefal also had a slightly deeper internal capacity. That said though, for a hungry family of 4 you would need to cook in two batches with either fryer if you want decent, crispy chips or a indeed, lot of them.Chip wise, both made excellent double-fried chips without drama. So the final result here is a tie.In conclusion, if you are just intending to cook chips once in a while, provided you take care cleaning it and using the basket, the Swan is fine. If you are looking to cook chips more regularly, I'd recommend spending a bit more and getting the Tefal. Both are easy to clean, but the ruggedness and better build quality of the Tefal shines through in that regard.

No problems
looks exactly the same as a certain supermarket brand of which I've had 3 all with issues.....this seems to be of a more superior quality much to my relief..

So simple to clean
This is brilliant, it is so simple: Swan have been making kettles for years, and this is simply a kettle for deep frying. It consists of a separate module with thermostat and heating element that is easily detached from the oil container for emptying/cleaning. So simple!

It was okay
It was okay for the price. I paid £20 I paid so wasn't expecting the highest of quality. It worked for a while and I suppose it technically still works but takes ages to heat up and I think struggles with consistency in regards to temperature. It's small but if you only need to feed 2 possible 3 people it's okay.

Really eas to use and makes great chips.
I got the 2.5l fryer but i'm sure the slightly smaller 1.5l does the job for small portions. Easy to use and follow instructions, doen't take up much room on the countertop, relatively easy to clean and keep clean, a must have for quick and easy deep fat frying. Recommend Swan a decent brand but shop around prices can vary quite a bit. £40 is a good buy.
