No Rebecca, ideally a sheet or a few sheets of paper but nothing as heavy as a book. It's really helpful because it's got a self adhesive side which you can stick permanently to the screen or clip onto your laptop and you can bend it in many angles, so that you can see exactly what you need to type, saving the neck strain of having to constantly look down. There are two parts to it. A bit that is self adhesive that you stick to the monitor (and isn't going anywhere!) and the actual clip itself. I have just measured my monitor and it is exactly 1.5cm. So yes, this is the item for you!

Hi I purchased this clip for all of my team who work on laptops, they are brilliant and extremely useful. Laptops are flatscreen and the clips just sit on the top or the side so they don't touch or damage the screen. Hope this helps.
