Great Comfortable MTB once you get it all assembled!
PROS+Despite not having super fancy high-end parts...everything works well+The front SR Suntour suspension fork helps provide a smooth ride+Trigger shifters are smooth & disc brakes offer good stopping power+Green paint job is stylish without being over the topCONS-Assembly took longer than I thought it would. The front brake cable arrives really twisted up into the front fork. It took me awhile but I figured out that you just have to keep spinning the fork till the cable eventually untwists into the correct position. The whole build took about 30-40 min total.SUMMARYWith all the bike thefts hitting our neighborhood hard, my son wanted a more basic, less flashy mountain bike that wouldn't completely break the bank just in case it did somehow get stolen despite his best efforts to use a heavy-duty lock on it at school. While I still don't want this $650 Mongoose to get stolen, I guess so far it's been "basic" enough that thieves have thankfully left it alone. Given this, my son has really enjoyed using it since it's quite a solidly built bike. At 5'3", the 15-inch frame fits him perfect with some room to grow. Overall, this Montana Sport is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Disappointed.
Was looking forward to this. First I was sent a bed frame, but Amazon res hipped my item. The items quality is not as it should be.The box was Damaged. The rear derailleur was bent, the gears are shifting tough and the rear gear hub was loose and not the one shown on the bike. A much cheaper version was installed. Also many imperfections but the main thing was the damaged gears and poor quality parts.

Great
Mongoose Montana Sport and Comp Men and Women Mountain Bike, 18 or 21-Speed Drivetrain with Trigger Shifters, 15 to 18.5-Inch Frames, 27.5-Inch WheelsThis is a nice basic mountain bike with reasonably easy assembly for those who have experience assembling bikes. I was able to get this one up and running fairly easily, and for the most part there were no glaring issues, with minor adjustments taken on the hydraulic lines, tested alignment on the discs and brake pads, and they were well aligned out of the box. Most of the nuts and screws were well-tensioned and only minor torquing was needed to ensure everything was very tight. I learned my lesson the hard way on prior MTB's, when a loose screw would go flying off in the middle of a ride! The suspension does take a little bit out of the bumps in this hardtail. For the price, it has decent components and does offer a nice ride, overall a fun and capable bike for the family.

No kickstand.
Not only is it 2023 and this is a bike with no kickstand but they reversed the sides the brake lines go on so I can't center my handle bars without having to go through the pain of redoing it myself.Edit: the shift mechanism is messed up and the front brake just doesn't work. Don't even waste the money on this overprice garbage.

A nightmare to assemble, but in the end it’s a very nice bike!
The assembly of this Mongoose Montana Sport bike made us want to scream! Argh! The brake cables were tangled around the front “fork” of the bike (the part that holds the front wheel). We tried everything we could think of to get the cables untangled but none of the cables could be detached or unscrewed from the brake systems attached to the handlebars. After doing some online research we figured out that the front fork spins and that if we kept spinning it around and around we would be able to un-tangle the cables. But this was after we had already spent almost 45 min trying to put the bike together. After we got the brake cables properly arranged, we tackled the front wheel. The instruction manual had two sets of instructions for almost every step of the assembly, depending on which feature your particular bike had. I found this annoying because a couple of times we couldn’t tell WHICH instruction we were supposed to follow until we were deep into the wrong step. The important part that was needed for the front tire installation was sealed in a bag with the PEDALS! Yep, we didn’t find that until we had tried to remove the nuts and bolts on the side of the tire but weren’t able to get any of them loose. Finally we realized that the bike had the quick-release function and that special part was in the bag with the pedals (which are the last step of the bike assembly), so we wasted another block of time trying to figure things out.The bike requires three or four different sizes of Allen wrenches. Thankfully we had a bunch of them from past IKEA furniture assembly projects. The pedals went on smoothly, as did the seat. After we had spent 90 minutes assembling this bike we were ready to test it out! My partner got on the bike and almost wiped out immediately because the handlebars were not fully tightened to the front fork piece on the sides. Thankfully, no injuries. We tightened all parts and tried again. This time the ride was smooth. The disc brakes worked very well. The bike stopped on a dime easily. The tires are mountain style so they are very wide and can allow you to ride on rough terrain. The front fork has shock absorbers, which would be handy if you are not on flat pavement.Overall, once you get this bike put together, it’s a high quality bike that is very nice looking and rides smoothly. We loved the dark green color of the bike. The bike itself is a 5-star bike, but the assembly is a 3-star nightmare! That’s why I gave the bike 4 stars.

The bike is amazing
This bike was very easy and simple to put together, it did not come in many different pieces like most bikes. The instructions that came with the bike helped put it together and were easily able to be read and understood. It took about 20-25 minutes to set up and then test drive. When riding around, the bike drove and turned very smoothly and the brakes engaged easily. I liked that the gears rotate quickly and comfortably. The fact that they don't make a loud noise when rotating was an awesome surprise.Overall the bike is amazing and I will always be riding it happily around with my friends.
