TOSLINK is a standardized optical fiber connector system. Also known generically as an "optical audio cable" or just "optical cable", as I know, iMac only 3.5mm jack port, no TOSLINK or other interface dedicated to audio.

It only simply convert 2.0CH PCM analog audio to digital audio signal output, please make sure the power supply and wire connections well. In addition, please confirm your power supply and connected devices whether are grounded? A correctly grounded wire available to eliminate an earth loop from your devices and reduced noise.
