Great!
I confirmed that the seller TeleDirect is selling HT801 V2 with the US style plug.I have tested both V1 and V2 with voip(.ms) and they both work fine, incoming and outgoing calls. Both V1 and V2 can be powered from a USB type A hub. For example, I'm using one of the USB type-A ports on my WiFi router to power the GrandStream device. Here are the differences I have noticed, but there are probably more.Differences:The major difference is the webportal is majorly updated. It looks more modern, it's faster, more organized, and provides a find setting feature. The only difference on the physical device I saw was one of the blue lights and writing over top of the ethernet port. V1 used an Earth-arrow icon. V2 replaced the Earth-arrow icon with the letters "NET".Password change: default username / passwordV1: admin / adminV2: admin / <written on sticker on bottom of ATA>Note: the firmware for V1 and V2 are different links:V1: Release_HT801_1.0.57.1.zipV2: Release_HT80xV2_1.0.3.5.zipRing Power:V1: Had a checkbox "High Ring Power"V2: has a ComboBox with multiple options: 45Vrms, 50Vrms, 55VrmsUpdating the firmware manually in V2 is much faster. The only thing is it gives an error "Reboot failed" but it succeeded.Data-sheet differences:Codecs:V2: added G.722Pass-through:V1: Short/Long Haul Ring Load 2 REN: Up to 1km on 24 AWGV2: Short/Long Haul Ring Load 5 REN: Up to 1km on 24 AWGNetwork-Protocols:V2: added SSH, SNMP, IMS/3GPP, IPoEQoS:V2: added Layer 2 (802.1Q VLAN, SIP/RTP 802.1p)Provisioning and Control & Management Syslog support:V2: removed telnet and added SSHCompliance:V2: added K.21

Works good with voip.ms
I bought to replace the MagicJack that I was not happy with. This is the V2 unit not the V1. Someone said the password didn't work as admin. This is true for the V2 the password is printed on the label on the back of the unit. Set up was not the same as the sample shown on the voip.ms web site, but it will set up and works great once set up. Make sure you update the firmware to latest from Grandstream web site.I couldn't be happier with HT801 V2 and voip.ms combo. Saving over $20/month over Spectrum. Once set up the quality of calls and the features are really good.

works great with voip.ms
works great. I wanted to bring back an old landline and old wall mounted phone from the 90s into the house. It's also a great setup for kids in the house so they can call 911 if needed. Also they'll be able to call any adult if there's every an emergency. the default password was on the bottom of the device. It's not admin/admin. took a bit of googling to find this. Once I was in, I followed the voip.ms instructions and got my DID number running with e911. I wired it into my home's old landline and now all the rj11 ports in every room has a dial tone. $2.38 a month from voip.ms is worth it.

Grandstream HandyTone 801 V2 login password on the bottom of unit
Update: HT01 V2 does not send e911 location where as V1 did out of the box. As a result calls are answered by a National 911 Call Center rather than your local 911 center. Our pool inspector failed the emergency phone as a result. V2 firmware added new configuration options E911 and HELD. The most recent documentation explains their use by repeating the name of the field, which is less than helpful.Grandstream does allow me to submit a support ticket as an end user and I received a prompt response.Update: HT01 V2 may have a label on the bottom showing the factory default password. If admin is rejected look there. Deduct one star for the confusion of user guide versions from Grandstream. The most recent user manual documents this. Search for "documentation.grandstream.com/knowledge-base/ht81x-v2-user-guide/"Check whether you can log in before return period expires.Using a new Grandstream HandyTone 801 V2, Admin login fails with the factory default password: admin. Reset button and power cycle do not resolve the problem. Item is useless without being able to login to configure it.On a different Grandstream HandyTone 801 V1 the default password worked. Perhaps this issue is only on V2 models.Returned for replacement.

phone adaptor
The setup of this product was terrible. The only YouTube presenter that was supposed to be helping the connection to Google Voice, however his device back office on the setup menu was nothing like mine. Undoubtedly, his Grand Stream device is the same device as the one I bought; however, his core software was for a previous device version.

Admin Password may be on the sticker on the back
As I tried to set this up, I could not get past the login screen because the admin password kept failing. I wrote a ticket to Grandstream support (had to create an account) and they responded the same day. There is a sticker on the back of ---at least my, device with the MAC address and the admin password. This is not documented anywhere. Another thing...they dont tell you what goes in the Username box. I was trying admin, Admin, administrator, Administrator. But...in the end it was just lowercase admin, using the password on the sticker. Hopefully this saves somebody some time. For now, I am giving the purchase 5 stars for quick the quick support, but I have not actually tested it yet (will update if I change my mind).
