Visibility Restored!
I love my old '08 Ford Escape. It's one of those cars that's so good, you want to hang onto it forever. Sadly, though, time marches on, so upkeep becomes an issue. A while back, I noticed that several of the bulbs in my high (third) brake light were out and those remaining looked old and dim. (No doubt original equipment. Not bad for 16-year-old incandescents!) For safety's sake, it was time for an upgrade. A moment on Amazon pointed me here. There are some similarities and differences between this and the original, the main being the bright LED lights, which outnumber the old bulbs. They're also MUCH brighter! The second is the electrical connector...but that becomes apparent when installing it.Speaking of installation, that's extremely easy! (It would've been easier if my old window struts could keep the glass off of my head! Guess what I'll be replacing next!) Two screws and gentle prying popped off the old unit, which was only hanging on by the electrical clip and the washer spray hose. The clip is easily removed, but the rubber washer coupler was a bit more stubborn. Go gently here! I used a flat, thin screwdriver to gently push it up and off. Happily, it obliged. Had it split, I would've had an additional problem to fix before I could've finished. (It would've been nice if a spare had been included in the package.) With the old unit off, and having stuck on the self-adhesive rubber gasket, I noticed that the electrical connector that had plugged directly into the old light was now going to connect to a connector at the end of some wiring on the new one. Once oriented correctly, it's a snap. (Literally!) Next, a small gasket goes behind the new rear window spray nozzle and it snaps into place easily. After sliding the washer tube onto the back of the nozzle, it's time to install the light onto the tailgate. Again, two screws and it's done! There's even two tiny new rubber gaskets for those, too, although they did NOT include new screws...so I had to use my old, rusty ones. No biggie. With the sun beating down on an unusually warm February fake Spring, the LEDs shone bright n' clear. (I did this alone, though, so the photo just shows the new light as installed, unlit.) Total install time: ten minutes. A nice upgrade, and it makes my night driving just a little bit safer.

Fits an '09 Escape.
This seems to be of similar quality of materials and construction to the OEM part. It installed quickly and fits fine. This 3rd brake light is brighter than the factory unit, comes on slightly faster, the bulbs will likely outlive the car and it uses a little less electricity. Those might be small wins, but they are all wins.If you need to replace your third brake light, this is a good alternative to the factory part.

Love it. Check the connector before installation
This looks great on my black explorer. The electric connection point was damaged upon arrival. There are two little metal prongs that will slide into the connector, and one was pushed down about half way. I was able to push it back into place with a toothpick, and electrical taped the back so that it could not pop back out. No issues after that. Be sure to check that the two prongs are the same length before installation. Mine did NOT come with two new screws, so I had to put the old super rusty ones back on, which im not thrilled about. Oh well it still looks way better than the red fixture. I recommend it, just be sure to check the connector. The red LEDs are nice and bright.
