Works at fairly long range.

Works better then my mailbox ring sensor. No it does not alert your phone. But much cheaper and doesn’t require hub to convert wifi to z wave. Range is respectable too.

Great little gadget!

I installed this right before winter and it continues to work great! No more wondering if the mail has been delivered. First ithe indoor receiver beeps several times to let you know the mailbox is open. Then the light will continue to blink to remind you you have mail. Once you retrieve the mail and return inside, push the button to stop the light from blinking.

Well that did not last long

This my second review. This product worked well for a few months but has completely quit now.It was erratic about a couple of weeks ago. A fresh set of batteries in the transmitter (mailbox unit) seemed to help, but now it is completely broken. The receiver (inside unit) just sits there with its reset, steady, red light on. Never tells me that mail was delivered. Useless. Do not waste your money.=================================================Original review: This mailbox alarm works well. However, fixing two things would have raised my rating to five stars.First short-fall is the adhesive on the back of the mailbox/transmitter unit. After cleaning inside of the mailbox door and insuring the surface was dry, I mounted the transmitter using the provided adhesive tape. I pressed the unit to the door for about 20 seconds to insure a good bond. The transmitter fell off the door the first time I closed it. I used a common double-face foam tape, repeated the cleaning, drying and instillation. The transmitter has remained attached and worked well for over a week, so far.The second short-fall is the annoying short power cord on the receiver unit. As supplied it is only two feet long. This might work for some users, but not for me. Since I have certain skills, I opened the receiver, unsoldered the line cord, soldered in a longer (6 foot) cord. and reassembled the receiver. This cost saving by the manufacturer was very annoying to this customer.UPDATE, MARCH 2022:Well, after a few months of use, my mail carrier knocked the transmitter off the mailbox door (even with my revised foam tape mounting). So, today, I reinstalled the transmitter with four bolts holding it to the mailbox door. The manufacturer should consider providing a wider flange with bolt holes. As of now it is only trapped between pairs of bolts. Also, the alarm sounds mailbox door is opened or closed. OK, that is as specified. But it means that the alarm is triggered when we put outbound mail in the box and sometimes I forget to reset the inside unit. I can envision a transmitter that is only triggered on the closure of the door and the addition of a button on the transmitter that temporarily disables it for a minute or so. This way outbound mail could be placed and, with a tap of the button, the mailbox could be closed without the spurious alarm event.

Do you have a window facing the mailbox?

🙂 The mailbox device will need you to comprehend the instructions. It is held in place with double sided tape. The receiver unit did not work at first as our walls were brick. I relocated the receiver to a window facing the street and it works fine. As the manual says it gives you a light that flashes if the mailbox is opened. Working great for my mom who was worried about leaving mail in the box all day. 5 Stars

Meets my needs --with a modification

The device does what I need it to do--with a modification. Installed, it does flash when the postman opens the mailbox. That's all I want. But the alarm was not to be endured, even turned down. I don't want to be startled. I can't see any product that's any different, though. A previous product (no longer available) could be modified by clipping the alarm wire. Not this one. But I found a workaround after the company failed to respond to my e-mail, but it may void the warranty. Two screws allow access to the inside of the base unit. A prominent, grey/black, donut-shaped component contains the beeper. I packed cotton into the small hole, added a little more to cover the component, and taped it down. Now, the beep is only a tiny squeak, quite acceptable if I can hear it at all. One more thing. The instructions are unclear about what "reset" means. I assumed that the red light would turn off, but it stays on. The flashing just stops. That seems odd, but it's OK. Maybe my modification modified that too.

Great for folks with a long lane

This is really great if you live in a rural area and have a long drive. It will let you know when the mailman opens your box to put your mail in so you don't have to make multiple trips to the mailbox for nothing. Set up was super easy.

Annoying, but works... does NOT LIKE being unplugged!

UPDATE 11/12/24: I 've had this device a little over two months and it has done its job, with one exception. When I moved the receiver to a different outlet, it appeared dead, by which I mean LED off and no reaction to button presses or the mailbox sensor being moved when plugged back in. Fortunately, after leaving it unplugged for about five minutes, it worked normally again. This happened again today after I turned off a breaker to update a light fixture, and I had to leave the receiver unplugged for about fifteen minutes before it worked normally when plugged back in. I'm going to change my rating from 4 stars to 3 because of this.Original Review:The annoying part is that the red LED on the receiver is always on when the alarm is NOT triggered, and flashes when it has been triggered. Like most people, I prefer alarms & notifications that operate on household power to be dark and quiet until triggered, or at least show a different color indicator than when triggered. That said, it works. I tested it with the receiver located about 200 feet from the metal mailbox and it works as designed. I installed it in a a mailbox that has a hinged "L" shaped tray (back of the "L" is the door) that is angled downward in the back so the mail placed on it falls into the box, and for this configuration I set the switch to the left position and mounted the sensor facing down on the bottom of the tray, where it is completely out of sight, with the arrows pointing to the rear of the mailbox. The sensor activates even when the door is only opened about an inch.
