Not for young, willful and strong horses.
If you have a strong horse, this will not hold up to the wear and tear. For a gentle sort of fellow who isn't testy and knows his boundaries, it would be PERFECT, but for a horse who gets a bug up their butt every once and a while, they would break this instantly. The lead is soft, but not well attached, but that's an easy fix. The turquoise is a beautiful color, I love it, but it simply wouldn't stand up to the wear and tear a young horse or a testy horse would put it through. This halter just wasn't for my horse but that doesn't mean it wouldn't work for someone with a more mellow and relaxed horse.

Surprisingly nice rope halter that fits a variety of stock horses on our property.
The fit of this halter can accomodate a variety of horses. I have a 900 lb AQHA (the buckskin) and it fits her well with an extra knot put at the poll, it has also fit well on our 800 lb 14 hand pony (the palomino), and a 15 hand APHA on the property (not shown). I was worried about the black tab on the end of the rope coming loose due to use and/or weather abuse, but it has held up surprisingly well. The knot holding the lead to the halter was a bit loose when I received it, but some torquing by an adult fixed that up and it has not loosened since. Nice solid rope halter in a colour that suits all of our horses at a reasonable price. I'll definitely be looking to buy a few more!

3 years later I'm still using and loving this halter. It is well made and holds up great and I love the color.

I love this halter
I love this halter! It is so soft, but feels very sturdy. The color is a lot lighter than shown in the picture, but it still looks pretty.

Beautiful; turquoise not exactly as pictured
I bought the turquoise and while it's still stunning, the color in the pic isn't totally accurate. It's more of a light bright blue. At first I didn't like the color at all. But it actually looks stunning on my horse (a bay Thoroughbred). I love the material. It's smooth and flashy. I think I'm going to buy another color as a back up.
