The movie starts out giving the impression of typical romance/adventure in filtration. But, it moves much deeper and becomes quite complex The plot deepens as the movie advances. Very good flick. It even reflects the human complexities of the characters.

This movie started out with an intriguing plotline and the potential to be awesome. I thought I was in for a real gem. But as it wore on, the plot got more ridiculous by the minute. By the end, I thought maybe I was watching a comedy because the storyline, the characters and the situations in which they found themselves were just laughable. What a dud.

This movie has the feel of a master piece. Pulls you in, so that you can't wait to see the ending.

Interesting, captivating, surprising twists. Highly recommended.

A masterful art forger is recruited by fraudulent art dealers to forge a long lost painting by Rembrandt. His recreation is so impeccable that the work is sold at auction for tens of millions, but wherever lots of money is involved, you know it, chaos, mayhem, and murder ensue dragging the talented Harry Donovan and his beautiful art critic girlfriend into suspense and action. This film is enjoyable. It's a kind of lovely story the likes of which are no longer told in cinema.

Virtually everyone in this movie, at least the main characters were very believable, as if this is what they do for a living. Jason Patric (his father was Jason Patric Miller who was the main priest in the movie "The Exorcist") was fantastic, I truly believed that he was a master forger. The movie was very well made, very different and very unique. It was very refreshing. I wish the ending was a bit different, in what way? I really don't know, but over all very good movie. I didn't care about the sex scene, it really wasn't necessary that is why I gave it 4 out of 5 stars.

An art forger who is also able to snatch a gun away from the crooks. A professor who saves the day by turning one of the crooks against the other. Just like that the forger gets freed. Happy ending it is, but so contrived.But it is interesting to see what a forger has to do. This goes into much more details of the forgery process than the movie starring Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo, The Thomas Crown Affair.

what a great deal of research and talent is needed to create a believeable forgery of the work of a master artist. Sped thru a few parts. The art forgery world is willing to do just about anything for a great forged piece. Funny and exciting in parts but not what I would call a 'thriller' as amazon describes it. Good to see Rod Steiger again, Jason Patric can act, the female lead was just ok. Recommend.

top film not your usual stuff, i loved this fil and have to watch it once a year, highly recommended not your usual box office. but still a great film!!,

Der leider viel zu unbekannte kleine Thriller um einen Kunstfälscher, der eines Tages für die falschen Leute ein Werk von Rembrandt fälschen soll, verdient viel mehr Aufmerksamkeit.Inszeniert vom routinierten Thrillerspezialist John Badham ("Drop Zone", "Wargames""Stakeout", "Nummer 5 lebt") bietet er nicht nur gute Schauspielleistungen, er ist auch wunderschön fotografiert und enorm spannend. Schade, dass er nur als NTSC-Variante erhältlich ist.Noch blöder, wenn Shops wie Medimops die DVD verkaufen, ohne anzugeben, dass sie den Regionalcode 1 hat, der Europa etc. nicht läuft. Aber da kann ja der Film nichts für....

Excellent film pour qui aime l'art et expédition rapide.

Super Film. Schade, dass es ihn nicht auf DVD gibt.
