Great system, with lovely curved edges, but you will need gravel, ornaments, plants & fish and for tropical fish - a heater too!
This is our second Interpet aquarium, having bought our first one, which was slightly larger Interpet Insight Glass Aquarium Fish Tank Premium Kit, 40 L about 3 years ago, but which we gave away when we were moving last year as he didn't think that the fish would copy well with the journey. My husband has kept tropical fish since he was a child and our children have grown up with their fair share of fish in the house. They have been asking us to re-establish a household aquarium and has we have a lot of the kit required it has been easy to get this set up. The tank has a built in filter and a built in LED lamp, but you will need a number of other things to get set up. We already had spare gravel, ornaments, a spare heater and so all we needed to get were some fish and some plants. I was surprised that this tank set up didn't come with a heater as I am sure our last one did. If you want to keep goldfish, this isn't a concern, but for tropical fish, the water must be heated. We were going to buy a new bottle of tap safe to make sure that we were getting the environment just right before introducing the fish, when we realised that the tank comes with a bottle, which is an absolute necessity. You get a filter, but you must remember that the filter needs changing regularly and you can 1 or 3 month packs - these are the same filters as we used with our last Interpet aquarium and we used to have them on a subscribe and save order, so that we always had them ready to change and they were less than a fiver for 3 months - so very reasonable and they fit and work. The curved glass is a great feature of Interpet, allowing you uninterrupted views of the fish instead of on two different planes with a join in between. This is a nice fish tank if you are new to keeping fish - big enough to allow you to have a number of fish, without it being too big and overwhelming. Always make sure that you allow more room than you think for the fish in your tank and that you ensure that you only add fish to the tank that will suit one another - your local pet store should be able to advise you when you go to buy the fish.Overall, I think I preferred the last set up we had, but that was probably because it was slightly larger and it came with a heater built in, but this is an excellent tank, you just need to factor in the additional cost of the heater if you buy this one over another starter aquarium if you are looking to keep tropical fish.

Misleading description, and probably too large for a starter set.
Although this is quite a comprehensive box, it does not contain, as it claims, "everything you need to set up a healthy and attractive aquarium from the word "go"."Before you can begin you will need to purchase a net, a rake, some gravel, some plants (real or fake), some decoration, and of course, some fish. You therefore need to add at least around £40 to the price before you'll be "up and running." The aquarium itself is possibly larger than you would want for a starter kit, and I found it difficult to place in my rather packed flat. However, it does look rather impressive when set up - the LED lights in the lid show the fish off well in poorer light, and the cleaning/maintenance regime seems rather straightforward.Overall I'm reasonably happy, apart from being misled about "everything you need", which was rather annoying.

Excellent, but note that decoration in the picture is not actually provided
This is an absolutely wonderful aquarium. 30 liters is quite large so it can accommodate 3-4 goldfish with ample space for them to live. The filter is efficient and good quality and the light lights up the water very nicely. While a large aquarium it is not bulky as it is well proportioned and quite tall. All in all an excellent choice for a starter aquarium for fresh water fish (with the equipment provided). Please note that the sand, stones and greenery in the picture is not provided.
