These bulbs didn't cost too much and work fine in our shop light.Remember they do get hot (since Halogen) so avoid touching after use (and also install them without getting your finger oils on them as the oils reduce the life of the bulbs). Always be safe with hot lights near anything combustible for fire-safety... esp. if kids or pets are around to knock the lights over.

I have a fabulous vintage halogen torchiere floor lamp I acquired from the thrift store last year. It had a working bulb, but it recently burned out. There was no indication anywhere on the bulb what type it was, so after much googling I figured that one of these bulbs would probably work. I wasn't sure what wattage to use - again, the bulb had no indication nor did the lamp. I went with the 300 watts. I also found in my google searching that halogen bulbs should be handled with rubber gloves. So the bulbs arrived, I got out my gloves, and gave it a go. And they worked! Except wow, this bulb is brighter than the old one. The lamp floods the whole living room with bright light now. The old one might have been 150 watts - who knows. The bulb dims smoothly with no flickering. There is a low buzzing sound at the lower levels, as there was with the old bulb.
