The book is well explained, and easy to follow. Provided the reader works through the book with pencil and paper. It is one of the easier complex analysis books to work through, and a good place to start. It is easier than the book by Mardsen and Hoffman (which is a good book), but at a bit lower level than Mardsen. For a math major, the book is not sufficient, and should be followed by a more advanced book.One reviewer stated that the problems were difficult. They are not, at a maximum, only two problems from every problem section can be difficult, but are doable from solely reading the book. I question that reviewers mathematical ability.For what it does, this book does well, but this is an introduction. At some point, a math major to strive to work at the minimum the book by Lang. Mardsen and Hoffman can also serve as a follow up, but if one works through Churchill, then Lang is very doable. Another great choice is the Complex Analysis book by Stein.Churchill's and Mardsen book complement each other well.

Using this product for a university class. It was expensive for a university text. However, so far, it looks like a good book, and I am happy with the purchase. This is based on only reading the first chapter tho.

Used this textbook for a senior level complex analysis course, and easily got an 'A'. But requires dedication when reading.

If one follows each sentence just how it's written, it is a marvelous book and leaves one with a very strong foundation in complex variables. I have read about 20 books on the subject and I find this one way way at the top of the list.

This is THE book that will help you understand complex variables and calculus on the Z axis. Coming out of class and having this book as my guide is a life saver.

So the book seems to be good for class material. It's very condensed though, each chapter is only about 1-2 pages. I'm sure at the level of mathematics that most people would be taking a class that would require this book it's to be expected. I'm only a math minor though so it was a bit of an adjustment for me. Not sure if anyone would be considering this for self study, but if you are I'd suggest an older version. It'd be much cheaper and comparing mine with a classmate who had a book 2 versions older there's not much difference, just the questions at the end of the chapters and maybe ordering of the chapters.
