You are gonna need a sheath. $20 is not too bad. I make mine- but I bet it still cost me half that in materials then consider labor. It’s a safety issue I cut myself badly reaching in a tool box that I had stored a cheap hatchet in uncovered.

This is not really the type of hatchet you want for that, but it would work in a pinch. The handle will start to come loose relatively quick

You should be good as long as you select the more expensive option that says it comes with an sheath and if you don't get one than that's what Amazon return is for :)
