Break the Cube's rules are easy to teach in under 2 minutes. Playtime is around 18 minutes.

I LOVE Break the Code so Break the Cube was an auto buy for me. After I played it, I can say I like the game, but it does have some issues. As I love deduction games. I’m still keeping the game.Break the Cube's rules are easy to teach you can do it under 2 minutes. Playtime is around 18 minutes. The game's components are good as is usual from IELLO.Gameplay is fun. Players are trying to deduce a 3D structure the player to their left has hidden in his player zone, to do this, each player will ask question until someone wins. The questions are related to the color of the structure viewed from different angles; one kind of question must be answered by all players while another kind must be answered only by the next player. The game's mechanisms are clever, and I had fun playing the game. All players have the same number of turns and I applaud this.On the other side, as there are 4 different structures in a 4-player game, some of the answers to questions offer vastly different value to different players, and this is unfair, and luck driven. In Break the Code, (in a 3-4 player game), all players are trying to deduce the SAME code, in the new game, the relative value of the questions vary MUCH more than in the previous game and I dislike this. Break the Code also has this issue, but it is much less relevant in the game resolution. I really liked my first game of Break the Cube, but my second one was won very quickly by a player who just got lucky with other players questions and I HEAVILY dislike this. This issue almost kills the game for me, and the solution is to play Break the Cube only as a 2-player game. To summarize, a player can easily get lucky and win the game without doing much to earn it. I also can keep the game as it plays very quickly so I can (try to) ignore the luck of the questions and their relative value.Best with 2 players, with more players luck can decide who wins. The replay value is high as the fun of the game comes from deducing faster than your opponents. Also, it seems there are some variants (but I'm not 100% sure as I didn't read the rules).Bottom line, I was expecting a harder game as deducing in 3 dimensions is harder for me (I suck at spatial relations), but the game plays and ends quickly. I enjoy it but I heavily dislike that a player can get lucky due to other player's questions and, more important, this is not a rare occurrence. For me, this is (almost) a 2-player only game to maintain fairness. Other than this, I really enjoyed it and I plan to keep it in my game collection (at least for now).
