Very good value scanner
The scanner itself is big and has a type c so that's a plus. The wireless connection is good about 30 ft with obstructions in the way. Good data types needed for diagnosis like misfire counters and as well as function tests on most vehicle systems like bcms, abs , pcm, and TCM tests. I have used mine for trans diagnose, driveability issues. 3 years of updated are great as well. Customer support is very helpful when my vci wasnt working and was covered under warranty

XTOOL D9S customer support
I’m writing this review to give a very positive review of the XTool D9S. Not only is the scan tool easy to navigate and have lots of useful functions, but customer support is excellent as well. I was having trouble programming a spare key. This tool does it with ease. It just does it different than the vehicle manufacturer does it. Tech support walked me through the proper procedure and it worked better then I could have expected. This is a great scan tool for a DIYer on a budget. I highly recommend.

Not worth buying
I'm updating after 6 months of use in professional setting. I changed from 3 stars to 1. The translation is terrible, it doesn't recognize most dodge/Chrysler products. Special features are a joke. Customer service will hound you to do the job they should have done before bringing scanner to market. I can't email customer service over features not working and wait weeks for a solution. I need something that works. Save your money. I recommend an Autel 10 times over the xtool. I also have a 906BT. It takes getting used to as far as navigation, but it works! The list of special features is impressive, too bad none of them work. Except for maybe 2 vehicles. After not working for several vehicles, ( domestic,) I contacted xtool. Apparently, a VGT actuator calibrate for a 2008-2018 Dodge is still under development. It's listed, but doesn't work. My snap on scanner even has this working function. Save your money, you can buy a more capable scanner for less money.

Shipped promptly from Amazon. Tool, accessories, and case very good quality. Good price for the amount of high end features that you are getting compared to others in the same price range or even somewhat higher $1000-$2000 lines You have to search a minute to find another manufacturer that gives you 3 years of free updates.Tons of popular reviews for tool and others in the XTool line. Have not had to use customer service yet. Support also has very good ratings though. Company stands behind machine from my research. If this is your first bi-directional diagnostic machine as with all in this level it does have a learning curve. But the curve is not too steep. The first time I used on the wifes car to reset the electric parking brake during pad and rotor replacement machine noted that the rear license plate lights were burnt out. Also gave the option to electronically retract the rear caliper pistons. Nothing big but was impressed that those things were there.

Gets into the weeds, and I love it.
I'm not a pro, by any stretch. I'm a hobby mechanic working on my cars and the cars of friends and family. So far, the good:It's quick. Auto vin and full scan is remarkably quick.Live data: the live data goes quite deep compared to the tools that I'm used to. Showing data, inputs, and outputs on many modules, allowing you to quickly get nailed down to what is talking and what isn't hearing.Bi-directional functions go deep as well, allowing you to probe into what things like the BCM are telling modules to do, and seeing how they respond. It really narrows down where to get into a circuit with the oscilloscope quickly. The data is quite deep on my GM vehicles, even being older models. The metal kick stand is nice and robust. I didn't put much thought into it until I had a laptop and the scan tool in driver's seat area at the same time.Battery life is great so far. It's been very nice seeing most of what a tech2 can see on a mid 2000's GM, without dealing with the clunky nature of a tech2.The "meh":I sure wish it would do more with my Scion. It's really limited with a 2011 Scion tC, but nearly every tool seems to be that way.I really wish I could see battery voltage somewhere at all times. Put it in a corner for me, that would be nice.A database on the website that let's you type a VIN or select a year, make, a model, and it shows you all of the supported functions really needs to be implemented. If you can tell me in an email or a phone call, then you can tell me in a database search. The bad:I don't have any at this point. The price hurt my wallet, being a hobbyist, but it is what it is.Overall, overkill for most hobbyist, but I like to get into the weeds with it, and this one will get you deep into the weeds. Pretty awesome.

3 months of using - Awesome! A+
Bought the D9 Scanner after going back and forth and have loved it ever since. Has massive brand compatibility and OEM features. I’m able to do 95% of what I need to do without spending $3000. The key programming alone has paid for the unit. Love the email reports o can send myself and customers. Huge huge step up in professionalism. On top of that their customer support is top notch! By email you can get almost anything answered and they update the software daily. Amazing. Build quality is solid as anything, battery life is stellar, and having the tablet features to lookup fixes and order parts is awesome. I even use it to team viewer into my computer with all my manuals and specs. Worth every penny and does almost everything an Autel will do. If you are programming modules it might be worth the extra $200 for the Pro but that’s pennies for the extra turn key OEM programming access. Last thing, get the Bluetooth!! I can sit in my AC and read data lol
