Q: Does it actually scrape the bottom or just close? I have things that burn right now.

There is a gap but it does the job. We used it to stirring milk caramel which took around 3 hours and it didn't burn it. The battery was enough for the 3 hours.

Q: I am going to use it in the uk. does a normal adaptor do the job? or i need a voltage adaptor to charge it.

Hi, Thank you for your question. Yes, the description does indicate that the arm adjusts 4-8 inches in height. It will technically still work and stir as long as the diameter of the pot is between 6-10.2 inches, but it will not stir from the bottom of the pot as it will not reach. It will just stay suspended short of the extra inch.
