Do this FIRST!

Fantastic find! I’ve used full-sized Manfrotto tripods in the past and loved the quality! I was looking for a travel friendly version. Glad they came up with this one! Here’s a GREAT hack I learned of before it arrived… DO THIS FIRST: use a Sharpie to draw around the base of the ball before the first use, so you will ALWAYS know exactly where to center it later. Look at the attached photo for reference. Happy shooting! 📷

Well build, works well.

I bought this to video my dance practice and it works great for it. Pretty simple but well made. I think the quality of it matches the price.

Not like they used to be.

I bought one a few years ago and it locks in place really well when you release the button. This new one seems to come from a different fabricator and it can't even support a small iPhone without slippage. I dismantled it and I'm trying to find a way to improve the grip in the ball-socket like the old one. (When you ask the internet for the opposite of lubricant, it says "glue".) So maybe I order another one and see if this one was a defective fluke. 💸

Sturdy and Versatile Mini Tripod for Compact Setups

This Manfrotto MTPIXIMII-B PIXI Mini Tripod with Handgrip is a fantastic addition to my camera gear. Its sturdy build comfortably supports my Canon R50, providing a reliable base for shooting. The design features a convenient indentation for gripping, making it easy to use as a handheld stabilizer. However, I did notice because of its smooth surface, it did feel just a teeny bit slippery. Adding a bit of grip material to the tripod legs would improve its stability significantly. Despite this minor drawback, it works exceptionally well for both camera and smartphone setups, offering versatility and ease of use.Overall, this tripod is a great tool for any photographer or content creator looking for a portable and durable solution.

Excellent Sturdy Portable Countertop Tripod

Let me start but mentioning that there is another newer version of this tripod called the Pixi Mini Evo that cost twice as much but offers a lot of other features. The Pixi Mini Evo is a bit larger, has a twist screw compression for the ball head, a cut out for the camera to do portrait mode or face completely up or down, extending legs that also fold out flatter for far more versatility and standing options. This tripod, has a spring loaded button compression for the ball head, is much smaller than the Pixi Mini Evo, the legs do no extend and only fold out to one position, and to connect this to your camera you have to twist the tripod on.Although this tripod doesn't offer as much as the Pixi Mini Evo, it does offer fantastic portability, simplicity, and rock solid functionality. I have been on the fence on whether or not to buy this tripod until I saw one in an Apple Store and got to try it out a bit. The ball head adjustment button was surprisingly easy and sturdier than you could imagine it would be. It feels light weight but solid at the same time and it is just easy to carry around.I'm using this with a Sony A6300 and have used the PZ Sony G 18-105, Sony Zeiss 24, and the Canon 85 1.8 with the MC-11 lenses. I have to say I doubted the 2.2lb estimate and didn't think it would keep the A6300 sturdy with the reasonably large and heavy 18-105 but it did with flying colors. Once I release the button, the camera stops moving and is perfectly steady. It is really amazing how such a simple system can be so reliably sturdy. Of course using it with the other much lighter lenses works just fine as well and when I have my camera on the tripod I don't worry about it falling over as the legs are sturdy enough to keep it from tilting over.It also apparently works as a short seflie stick but that wasn't really my intent with it. I don't use camera grips and I didn't buy the A6300 for a selfie camera but it is nice that it can be used in this way.You can buy the Pixi Mini Evo for around $50 and I'm sure it is great, but I got this because I want something small that I can carry around effortlessly that works quickly and simply. Manfrotto didn't cut corners on this and it shows in quality materials and intelligent design elements. It is easy to carry in your bag or even your pocket and it is even easier to use when you need it. At $25 this tripod is easy to recommend and I will update my review should I find any more positives or faults with this. Also, I wanted to note that although I did test this tripod with the A6300 and 18-105, the pictures I posted are with the Zeiss 24 1.8.
