IELLO Oceanos Game Board Game

Great Game! Cute and whimsy. Challenging enough for the adults, but not so much the kids couldnt catch on and have fun. Definitly a fun family game. The kids loved upgrading the subs and all the ways it changes. The card draft is quick and keeps things moving. We watch a "how its played vidio first" then read the directions. Took a full game to figure out, but once you yet the change of how to upgrade the subs it seems pretty strait forward. We really enjoyed it and the quality is great. The grafics are well done and fun. The little subs come with alot of peice and need to be organized well. So takes a bit to initially set up, but again once you figure out what your doing it all makes sence and goes pretty smooth.

I love this game and really wanted to give it a 5 star review but it has a few flaws! I'll write about the pros and then the cons! Pros: When I opened the box I noticed a stack of Ziploc baggies, enough for each submarine, each deck of cards and other miscellaneous pieces to have their own baggie! Yes! Organizing games a big deal to me so this was amazing! I wish all games came with organizing baggies! The art work is phenomenal. Super cutsie steam punk looking pieces. Super adorable. Once learned it's a very fast paced game lasting maybe 30 minutes. Great for family bonding!Now the cons: The instructions weren't that clear despite reading them over and over and I had to resort to watching a YouTube tutorial. Also the pieces don't always fit perfectly together and are hard to connect and disconnect at times. The game is probably to confusing for kids under eight as well. Despite this we absolutely love this game. I would recommend a tutorial before initial play and you'll be fine. :) It's a super fun family game.

GREAT addition to any game collection. The pieces are made of very sturdy cardboard and the graphics are really cute. I do wish the colors were easier to discern as far as which pieces went with which submarine BUT that has zero effect on the game play and is really just a nit picky thing, trying to give an overall picture of what to expect. Seriously, this game has so many things going for it. Kuddos to the designer! The instructions were so clear and easy to understand, so well written, that learning the game play was a breeze. My son turned off his PS4 to humor me, but as soon as the game was over ( took only 30 min) he wanted to play again. Another thing I love is the easy rule change for only 2 player. It was minimal and, again, so easy to understand. I wish they could get the writer of this instruction manual to write the one for Legendary Firefly. I'm glad I saw the review on DiceTower!

I purchased this for my kids and their friends (ages 10-12) to play together during down time on a trip to the Bahamas. It was a HUGE success! They loved the theme, the artwork, the thoughtful logic aspect of the game, and the fact that they could play it multiple times without feeling at all bored. We are pretty avid board gamers, and they said they found it unique and original.The only complaint they had at all was that some of the puzzle pieces in the submarines don't fit together well. (A minor problem in such an extraordinary game!)We highly recommend this board game!

Nice game, very pretty. This publisher makes good family friendly games that are usually high quality. However, the copy I got had mis-cut pieces and they don’t fit together well. This was a known issue over a year ago and I still got a bad copy. I’ve tried contacting the company for replacement pieces, which they had been offering then the problem was noted, but I haven’t heard back yet. Other people reported having to wait months for replacements. I may end up cutting them with an exacto knife myself if i ever want to play it.

What I liked is my 8 year old picked up the game in a round. After 3 total rounds he wanted to play again. If played again it would only take 15 minutes, not the listed 30+ minutes. I thoroughly enjoyed it in it's simplicity and beautiful artwork. I would play this with just adults.

Quite possibly my favorite board game of all time! As has been stated in the Iello preview for this game, Antoine Bauza has claimed that of all the games he has developed in his impressive career as a game designer, this is his favorite and considering his pedigree that is a very impressive statement. I can certainly see why he would say that as this game is incredibly fun to play with kids and adults alike. Card drafting just so happens to be my favorite game mechanism and this game does it really well. As usual with Iello, the artwork is on a whole other level than most game pubilshers. I am also looking forward to seeing what Antoine does with the Welcome to the Dungeon sequel for the same company.
