Excellent Lamp! I'm getting another! (Two small niggles....)
Great lamp! Puts out a good, strong, even light. The base is heavy enough to support the arm in all configurations. By the way, for those who say the arm doesn't secure: there is a screw and washer in the bottom of the arm that you remove, then reattach with the arm in the base. They even include a little baggy taped to the arm with spares.I replaced my previous desk lamp with this one, because I needed a long armature - a smaller lamp tended to cut across my field of vision when people sat across from me at my desk. This one fit the bill perfectly. It's completely above my field of vision when we're all seated. This one also pivots easily if there's still a problem. The arm holds in any position you put it. I noticed the little arm extension coming off the head of the lamp; those usually exist if the head is too hot to touch, so I was concerned - no problem. The head is barely even warm. I think it's primarily to keep your hand clear of the on/off sensor when you're moving the light. Nice touch. The light is very even with no hot (or bright spots). It's a very "soft" light, which minimizes shadows and glare. It has a very nice wide area of coverage which makes an excellent work area on my desk.I've heard good things about the customer service, but can't comment on it - the lamp worked perfectly from the start, so no need! What could be improved? A couple of tiny items (not enough to affect my satisfaction):1) the color is adjusted by having two banks of LEDs: one in the inner, orange-ish lens in the center of the light (you can see it in the photo), and another bank surrounding it. That way you have warm light, cool light, or a mix of the two. It's simple and elegant. I had another lamp where you could continuously adjust the color from completely warm to completely cool without any steps or presets. Something like that would be nice, but it's not a big deal.2) (I'm a photographer, so I'm very aware of light/color) I would personally prefer if the warm light had a little less green tint and a little more red, warming it up just a bit.My two slight niggles will probably not be noticed by 90% or more of people, but I thought it would be good to document.I would totally recommend this lamp. I plan to get another for my home desk. While more expensive than the others the old adage applies: you get what you pay for.

Great lamp
I’ve had this lamp for six months and I really like it. The reasons are: (1) I like the warmth of the low setting; (2) I like using the hand gesture to turn it on; (3) it doesn’t get hot (or even warm) like the tensor lamp it replaced; (4) it has good clearance, as I’ve put the base out of the way behind my computer monitor that’s 18” tall and the arm extends over the monitor and clears the top of the monitor by about 2”.If I had anything negative to say is that if you cut the power to it, unplug it, or your power goes off momentarily, the light resets itself to the brighter setting when you next turn it on. Keep this in mind if you plan to plug it into a switched outlet and you prefer the dimmer setting. Otherwise it remembers your brightness settings when you turn it off and on normally, using the hand gesture. The brighter setting is too bright for my taste, since I prefer dimmer, warmer lighting. So yes the lamp is a little expensive, but for me it really works well and has been worth the cost.

The recessed light is the best part of the lamp. Pros and Cons listed.
Pro: brightness is very good. High Kelvin rating is good for art work (watercolor) accuracy. Can get the bulb up high enough that there's not a bright light right at eye level like most of the elongated lamps today where the light is so bright (BenQ) you have to turn them away from you to face right into computer screen. Then they block PC screen. This lamp avoids that problem. Heavy base makes it stable.CONS: Lumens should be brighter. Kelvin is nice for color, but more lumen light for older eyes would make it a 5 star. The controls on top are a pain. Hard to reach; should be on the base. Also, very easy to trigger the lamp if you reach over it to open blinds, get something off a shelf. Hair trigger wave of the hand and you'll walk in the room at night and find you accidentally had the lamp on all day without realizing it. I'm lucky that cat's tail doesn't trigger it.

Excellent reading & work light, Great look, Well Designed
I use this as a desk lamp for reading books and writing. Great settings for intensity, etc. Passing one's hand over the on/off sensor is v cool. It throws light very well. Looks sharp. And seems to be well made. Glad I bought it, and enjoy using it.

Not bright enough for me
I'm not sure I'll keep this. First, the screw that holds the lamp stand into the base does NOT tighten. I could lift it right out of the stand, which is a safety hazard. Secondly, the "color modes" really do not work that well. All the color mode does is a dimmer switch from off to on, which is redundant, since I could just wave my hand over the top the lamp and perform the same function. Thirdly, it simply is NOT bright enough! I'm going to keep it a few days to see if I can get used to the relatively low lighting, but my initial thought is to return it. I like the flexibility of the lighting fixture, but that's not enough for something that costs $99.00. My old trusty halogen light was so much better.
