Q: Will this punch clean holes in standard weight printer paper? My needs are (a) long throat (b) easy to punch 100s of holes without getting tired.

Yes it will punch clean holes in standard weight printer paper; however, because the handle requires pressure and you will need to pull the sheets off the punch so due to this complication, it is not likely that your project can be done with ease and without getting tired. I would recommend, Officemate Heavy Duty 3 Hole Punch with Padded Handle, 40-Sheet Capacity, Black (90089), Medium (25-99) (sold on Amazon)

Q: Will this set any brand eyelets/grommets, or must they be the Crop-A-Dile brand?

It's a clean hole.This tool is good if you are punching holes deep in a paper. If you only need to punch holes or put eyelets in the corner of papers, like 2inchs, better you the smallest one, crop a dile.It's lighter and easier to use.
