I orderd this in 2013 and its still going strong. Love this multimeter
I ordered this meter in 2013, I've been though several batteries, but this little meter keeps on going. I've used it for electrical, electronics, and automotive, with the case and the connectors pack. Its awesome, pretty accurate for a handheld DMM and its ultra rugged. Love the features on it, and it just goes and goes. Back light is nice as well. What's not to love? Its an awesome product!

Nicely priced, feature rich true RMS meter
I'm a DIY-er and very part-time hobbyist, and needed to replace my old meter. My infrequent usage of a DMM didn't really warrant going all out for a Fluke, so for me the EX430 was a nice balance between price & features, especially being a true RMS model with frequency capability. It seems well built and has some heft to it, LCD is large & easy to read. Autoranging speed is relatively fast. Didn't have any issues with capacitance values being too off (within specified limits). Included temperature probe was not very accurate, and takes some time to normalize, but then again, I didn't purchase the meter for this. The orange rubber bumper sleeve isn't very well fastened to the meter - loose enough that the bottom and sides of the sleeve can easily be pulled away, but if any consolation there are 2 rubber tabs that secure the rear upper portion of sleeve into to the meter, so it shouldn't fall off completely. Another nuisance, as has been pointed out by others, is the continuity tone...it's more of an annoying warble than a true beep.Extech Customer Service was exceptionally fast in responding to my email questions, which is a nice plus.If you are in need of a very solid DMM for daily or professional usage, Fluke or the higher end Extech models are probably better suited for you. But for the occasional project around the house or car, and if true RMS and Hz capabilities are important to you, this is a very decent meter for the price, with a 3 year warranty.

Great inexpensive meter for testing earthing/grounding
I bought this to test my grounding / earthing equipment and a show my friends the difference between not being grounded and grounded. It works great! I briefly thought it was broken when the symbol OL showed up, but after read the directions I realized I was just overloading it on the setting I had it on. Changed it to a higher setting and I was fine. It has the lowest setting you needed, millivolts , To test grounding equipment

One of the lead covers came cracked, meter is one but definitely not a Fluke
It is ok for the price but the plastics on the lead protectors was cracked on the unit I received and I was outside the return period by the time I had opened the package. The meter is ok but the leads and plastic are somewhat lightweight. You will not be mistaking this unit for a Fluke.

Works as intended, easy to use.
My portable generator seemed to be exceeding either voltage or frequency limits that my UPSes perceived as normal; they'd beep constantly when I ran them on generator power. I had two choices: Pay someone to adjust the generator's governor, or obtain the necessary equipment to do it myself. I chose the latter, since I was certain I'd find other uses for a multimeter with frequency and temperature measurement. The meter worked as expected; the display is large and clear, the soft vinyl case/holster protects it well, and the probes are of decent quality. I was able to adjust my generator in a matter of minutes. My UPSes are much happier now when they're running on generator power, and so am I.

Great product. Love it so far.
I've only used it a bit, but I love it. It's just as good as the FLUKE I use in my lab, and 1/4 the price. I didn't even realize it came with a thermometer probe, which was an AWESOME surprise, considering I'm building a temperature controlled homebrew vessel.... Now I have something to validate my other sensors with.Awesome product so far. According to other reviews, don't blow your fuse!

but fairly bad, obvious
As I opened the meter's plastic packaging, I found the leads loose, the end caps for the probes off and loose. Clearly it was used, a return probably. I closely inspected it and found slight scuff marks on the body, but fairly bad, obvious, scratches on the LCD cover. There was no manual. Testing the unit was also disappointing, it was off on numerous measurements as shown by comparing to a different DMM and with a scope. Kinda put me off, I returned it and went with another manufacturer and a different supplier.

Quite accurate, build quality horrible.
I bought this (on Amazon) because another worker I respect has had one for years and it's 20 amp DC at the leads instead of the standard 10 amp. Now, however, I regret purchasing it and just use the Elenco ST-3030 purchased at the same time although it's clunky with the leads (awesome at the clamp though- review pending). So, this thing works, is accurate and if the build quality wasn't so abysmal I'd give it 4 stars for doing what I want it do.But build quality is poo. This all started a month after purchase and has progressed since. First: It wouldn't turn on unless spinning the dial till it made a noise then back to Volts. Fine, co-worker says that happens to his also. Then the Ground plug loosened up inside the unit and became woobly- I'm with a customer testing their solar panel and I have to excuse myself to hit a nearby battery so I can wiggle the negative connection till it works and shows the battery voltage then hope it stays in place back to the solar panel? Unrealiable, unacceptiable. Then I took the thing apart to see what was up and my review ends here since..yea, it's gathering dust till I can 'fix' it.And a note, I don't return anything unless there's a blatant error or flaw- this worked great for a month and degraded. Bad unit? Maybe, don't care- the unrealiablility of build quality killed it for me.
