The Dingle, Iveragh & Beara Peninsulas: A Walking Guide (Walking Guides)

I own other walking guides by Adrian Hendroff and all are excellently put together and written, with great photos and graphics. I was really looking for a guide to walks closer to the coast of the Ring of Kerry, in Ireland, but this book is instead a guide only to high-altitude walks, often long, with more than 2,000 ft. of elevation gain. If that's what you are interested in then buy this book! The scenery is austere and fabulous, but my interest is in coastal photography. I returned the book to Amazon for a refund.

We bought this book for our last trip to Ireland in 2017, since this time we wanted to do more hiking. I love learning of new places, especially out of the way places. This book had up to 28 different trails and all were rated as to difficulty. It is full of pictures and has great attention to detail. I found that even if we did not get to hike a place, I learned great information and got lots of ideas of were to go, what to take with me and how to interpret the landscape. Definitely get ahead of time to do a lot of research. We packed it with us and referred to it when necessary. Highly recommend. Also this was our third trip and yes we will be back again to Ireland, so I keep these books close. Definitely a great buy.

Nice descriptions and pictures for the walks. The part that was available for preview had an easy walk - but that is the only one in the book. I was hoping for more 2-3 hour hikes. If you are looking for 3.5- 8.75 hour long hikes in this part of Ireland - this is the book for you! 13 of the 28 hikes are level 4 out of 5 difficulty , 9 are level 3, 4 are level 5 (lots of ascents and scrambling), only 1 level 2 and 1 level 1.

This looks to be an excellent guide, but we were unable to use it because it arrived too late. Perhaps we will use it in the future if another trip is possible.

Excellent map essentail for walking holiday

Why does eire have a differing OS system. This book is no good as the grid is not UK OS - I use a smartphone app that does not recognise this system so navigating is impossible.
