4 stars because of the sound quality, how well the mixer is constructed, and 3 out of the 4 sound color effects. Problem is onboard sound effects like reverbs and delays are never as good as effects you can get externally. The delay, echo, and other effects are cool but not very practical while beat matching and can make tracks sound like crap (yes I know how to use the effects intimately I just think it is wiser to buy a basic mixer with high sound quality and then buy external effects). The harmonic sound color effect is worthless - it'll change the pitch of the song but not in a way that is of any use to beat matching or scratching. The other 3 sound color effects are amazing but why did this mixer not have a sampler when the DJM 600 did? For the price they could have easily added the sampler. Very easy to use though the user manual is worthless (great tutorials on youtube - not that this mixer needs a tutorial its very user friendly. It can also be used as midi which is awesome.Can't give it 5 stars because one sound color effect is awful (harmonic mixing), it is overpriced if you buy it new, no sampler. It gets 4 stars because the sound quality is almost as good as rane, the regular effects are ok since they improved the quality from the DJM 600, 3 out of 4 sound color effects are amazing, very well built, can be used as midi. Overall this is an amazing mixer but when you spend this much money you have to point out any little thing that could be improved. Buy it used, you can almost get a DJM 900 for the same price as DJM 800 since it is no longer manufactured. Grab a used one under $1000 before they become very scarce.

I've used this DJM at a local club and its amazing! I enjoyed it so much I had to get one for myself! Pioneer has done a great job. The effects are awesome and very easy to use and navigate. Just take some time to practice it and fully use this mixer to its maximum potential. Definitely would recommend this mixer is anyone was on a limited budget.

If you want to step out of the bedroom and start playing in the clubs, you need to learn how to use the Pioneer DJM-800. This is the gold standard that most house/electronica clubs use. The sound just radiates with this mixer. Doesn't matter if you're playing vinyl, CDJ's, or laptops. The sound effects are what truly makes this product amazing. You can do sound effects for each channel, or do it on the master as a whole.
