Red Dot Viewfinder Star Finder Scope for Celestron 80EQ 80/90DX SE/Meade Infinity/Polaris Astro Telescope

Really needed to replace the one on my very nice Polaris telescope because one of my guests got so excited to see Jupiter they accidentally grabbed it too hard and broke it. The replacement has been very much like the original so happy for that.

My dislikes are plastic lens makes the whole view to be a huge glare. The switch pushed into the body and had to be super glued in. The contacts for the battery are just laid in loosely and are open because there is no battery cover. No control what so ever, adjustment screws are real sloppy. Fixed one by adding a washer but said "screw this" I'm not adding another one. Belongs on a kids toy and that's even pushing it. I guess they couldn't find a box flimsy enough so it was sent in a plastic bag. I think I could have returned it but it was much more fun grinding it in the ground with my foot.

A very good star finder. Yes there are better ones but the price justifies the performance.

This looks just like the one I was replacing, functions fine, but the base is thicker than the Meade original, too thick to fit in the mount.Good price. I might stand the base down so it will fit.

I didn’t end up using this for the telescope installation I bought it for, it seemed like a toy at best. The price was “cheap” and it seemed to be made really “cheaply”.I have a very similar red dot finder that was OEM on one of my scopes, it works great. The build quality of the OEM finder I’m using on my 80mm refractor scope seems much better and it only sells for under $25.

The design is simple enough that if the mfr had spent an extra $0.15 worth on the adjustment knobs, a couple cheap washers, and a couple cheap (think ball point pen) washers, it would be a fine finder scope worth a lot more $$. As it is...not so much.

Does not include the battery or battery cover or even include instructions for where to place battery or which type of battery to use. It also mounts in the wrong direction so is completely worthless. It was returned. Don't waste you money. For $5 more, the Talcope is great.

Worked fine but the larger base was not compatible with my son's celestron scope. We had to return it.

Red dot is a bit large, but can be easily fixed by putting some tape over the LED and poking your own hole.The design is without a battery cover. The battery just slots between the contacts and is securely held in place. No worry about battery leaks since it is always visible.

This finder scope is very cheaply made and effectively useless at night. I did not expect a lot for the price but I did hope it might work. It took several tries to even get it to turn on. The battery (not included) is held in a really flimsy clip on the outside. There was no indication of which way round the battery should be inserted and the whole thing feels like it will break if I ever need to replace the battery.It is useless at night. There are two brightness settings for the red laser dot but even on the lowest brightness there is so much red light scattered about that it is impossible to see anything else. It works in daylight only!Do not waste your money on this. Spend a bit more to get (hopefully) a product that works!

Perfect fit on to my old Meade DS-2130. I’m able to reuse my old CR2032 batteries below 1V too! New batteries are just too bright.
